About the Author

Elizabeth Jane Arens is a single mom who lives in Brambleton, Virginia, with her daughter, Megan. A Hug from Grandpa Joe was inspired by their real-life experience with grief following the passage of Elizabeth's beautiful mom (Megan's beloved grandma), Mary Jane Arens, when Megan was 11 years old.

Megan is now in college, where she is studying Psychology and Social Work. She wants to help children who have experienced trauma, including the passing of a loved one. When Megan is not studying or working, she enjoys knitting, crocheting, and getting together with her friends.

One way that Elizabeth has dealt with her own grief has been to write poetry and short stories. When she is not writing, Elizabeth enjoys sewing, teaching children to read, and leading arts and crafts in Vacation Bible School.
